The Swansea rock scene has been blessed with many great rock bands over the years and Tabularasa are no exception.

The album will be mixed at Mwnci by  Jethro Chaplin and Rob Jones. Heres what some of the lads had to say

“Mwnci works for us as it allows us to record in a ‘jam room’ atmosphere, whish is where we are most comfortable. Add to that the whomping surroundings!’

Rob and Jethro where always ready to try new things. We recorded a 300 year old church bell (hit with an axe!) about 50 meters from the studio..”

It’s going to be more than OK

The boys from OK

It’s been a wet and wild summer, but indie band OK will be bringing some cheery, melodic sunshine to the Queens Hall in Narberth, on Friday.

The band’s charm has proven irresistible to local music-lovers, securing its place as one of the county’s best acts.

The band regularly fills local venues with screaming fans and after playing highlight performances at the last three Celtic Blue Rock Festivals, OK is now hoping to replicate that local success further afield.

Singer Joe Paine, of Newport said: “We’re playing some important shows over the next couple of months, including a nerve-wracking showcase to an audience of record industry people in London this week. Playing the Queens Hall gig to our usual friendly crowd will be a boost.

It has been an eventful year for OK, who signed a recording contract with Swansea-based Sound of Monkey, produced a debut album at London’s famous Mayfair Studios and are now preparing to release first single, Tell the World, in November.

Bass player Adam Barrah, from Dinas Cross said: “Recording at Mayfair was scary and exciting.

We used the same facilities that some of our heroes have used.

Joe used one of the microphones that Radiohead’s Thom Yorke used on its last album, In Rainbows. Everyone has worked there, from Tina Turner to Pete Doherty. It was hard not to feel intimidated.”

OK’s first UK tour, which started this week, is concentrated on the M4 corridor between London and Swansea. The band hope to stir up some interest in new territories, paving the way for the release of Tell the World.

“We’re all excited about the tour. We always get a good response in our home county but it’s all about showing our stuff to new audiences,” said drummer, Theo Grimshaw, of Glandwr.

“We’re always massively grateful to the people who support us in Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion, but we need to get some more friends on board and spread the word.

“Hopefully, we’ll eventually be accepted in other parts of Britain as well as we are in our home areas.”

Also appearing on the bill at the Queens Hall is dub sensation Powersteppers, featuring musical dynamo Molara, a match well worth listening to. With each band playing its own unique sound, it’s definitely time to get those dancing shoes on.

Ok recently played the queens Hall Narberth.

Team Mwnci (Hubert Mathias, Jethro Chaplin) handled the sounds

A recent blog from lead singer Joe

“Nice one to all those who came along, was a great night. Was also a bit of a treat coming home and playing after doing London and Cardiff.

Can’t believe it tho… there was another fucking power cut! I’m sure there’s something supernatural going on here. This time it happened during ‘Down the Wishing Well’. The crowd were great though and carried on singing after the power had gone. But it wasn’t gone for long thanks to the brilliant sound team (nice one guys).

We also got Molara up on stage to sing Stiff Upper Lip with us which was a ttttreat!

Molara’s show was brilliant as always. She somehow persuaded us to come up on stage with them to sing a song! (I think we were helped a little by alcohol). It was great, she got me and ad singing our song ‘Magazines’ over one of her tunes, theo was shaking maracas bez style and oli… I think oli was just dancing around like a monkey occasionally doing some freestyle mc-ing into the mic…

Oh, and ad got into a fight, nice one ad… ah well, boys will be boys…

Think the next gig is monkey in Swansea. Sea you there for some tea and scones x”
